There is a place where fire does burn;
A dark and cavernous pit.
And there all who wouldn’t to Christ turn,
Forever, like unmelting candles, their flesh is lit.
From the sulphureous fumes great weeping echoes;
Sounds of bitter lament and gnashing of teeth.
All there are eternally locked in death throes,
For refusing to God, His just due, bequeath.
But this need not be our fate,
For, our God offers us grace;
Rescue from our sorry state,
And eternal life in a paradisal place.
Some would ask though, “Why say this?
Does it give you some sick pleasure?”.
No. It’s because I would be remiss,
If I withheld from you truth’s treasure.
There exists both carrot and stick,
And the whole truth we must not ignore.
I say this not ‘cause I’m sick,
But rather, your suffering, I abhor.
Please come to Christ the King;
Receive His gift given in love.
Be saved by His suffering,
And be raised to a place of honor above.
None of us need languish in the pit,
That burns with fire infernal.
The Most High will all sin remit,
And grant us joyful life eternal.
All who repent of sin,
And believe in Jesus as Lord and God,
Will to God’s kingdom be brought in,
And forever in glory, with Him, trod.
But all those who reject,
To trust and receive forgiveness,
Need to know they must expect,
To suffer forever in gloomy dimness.
The Almighty will not be mocked;
Recognize with Whom it is that we deal.
They who refuse to bow will forever be locked,
In Hell with no grounds for an appeal.
Crimes against the Infinite bear infinite punishment,
But in mercy the Divine shed His own blood.
Jesus lived a life perfect and innocent,
And on the cross His love flowed in a flood.
In three days He rose back to life,
Having fully paid our sin’s debt.
This selfless rescue from all our strife,
Must not with rejection be met.
To reject this gift is to spit in God’s face,
And further heap up condemnation.
So through faith accept His gift of grace,
And be saved for Heaven and from damnation.
