There’s a God in Heaven with Whom we must deal;
To Whom we must give an account.
His Word is sharper than any sword of steel;
Living and active, He is life’s fount.
All powerful and knowing, He sees all;
Nothing is hidden from His sight.
Hearing this should cause us to fall,
To our knees in reverent fright.
Yet though He is just, and brooks no traitors,
In love and mercy He’s rich.
He is not like any of this world’s dictators;
For places with us, the condemned, He did switch.
The just penalty for our sin is death,
So, God died in our place to satisfy justice.
He suffered and bled, giving up His own breath,
When He, Jesus, walked this Earth amongst us.
He lived the perfect life we never could,
Then, out of love for us, laid His life down.
The Judge of all creation was nailed to wood,
Mocked and beaten, wearing a thorny crown.
Next, Christ was buried in a tomb for three days;
His body lay dead, cold and lifeless.
Then He rose up again to all Heaven’s praise,
And now offers us a gift that is priceless.
Though we stand condemned, having broken God’s law,
When the day comes for us to give an account,
We can plead Christ’s blood and be saved from death’s maw,
For His blood paid our debt’s full amount.
All who repent of sin and trust Christ,
Are fully cleansed and forgiven their sin.
The life of Him with Whom we must deal has sufficed,
To pay our ransom and bring us within.
Those who trust Jesus are saved not only from Hell,
But saved for Heaven and brought into God’s family,
To forever with Him, in paradise, dwell,
Given fullness of joy in place of calamity.
So come now to Jesus, with Whom we must deal.
His heart overflows with love for you.
Every mark and wound of sin He will heal,
And raise us from death to life anew.
