The Darkness Must Now Give Way

This world has fallen into decay,
And is ruled by forces most evil.
But the darkness must now give way to day,
For Christ our Lord brought righteous upheaval.

In the spiritual realm there’s a band of rebels,
Led by one no longer worthy of a name.
This group of Yahweh-hating devils,
Foolishly thought Yah wouldn’t, this world, reclaim.

Though the demons gathered all their strength,
And made secure their spoil,
With His finger hardly extended to full length,
God scattered them, making light work of their toil.

Their resistance could hardly be called a fight;
Our Lord conquers with total domination.
Jesus, the Light, has overcome the night,
And won for Himself a people from every nation.

God Himself descended to Earth;
Jesus of Nazareth is God incarnate.
This world’s kingdom rubbed its hands with mirth,
Thinking, “At last, here is our target!”

Working along with sinful men,
They nailed Jesus to a cross.
But after they killed Him, He rose again;
Not even death, to Him, was a loss.

With this redemptive act they’ve been defeated;
The death of Christ has spelled their doom.
Now the prince of this world has been unseated;
For Jesus walked out of the tomb.

The descent of our Lord was met by dark forces,
With pitch black hate and malice.
But any who think they can divert God’s course is,
Sure to drink from a humbling chalice.

Christ our Lord is God the Most High,
And He’s unmatched in power and glory.
No one took His life; He chose to die,
And won a total victory.

Blessed are You, our Lord and God;
You are King and Creator of all.
Because with our sin You were shod,
We can now be saved from the fall.

Lord, please fully bring Your kingdom in,
And do away with Your routed foes.
We desire Your second coming to begin,
When on Earth as in Heaven, Your will, You impose.

Forever will Your kingdom increase;
Your dominion knows no end.
All praise to You, the Prince of Peace;
Our loving God, Savior and Friend.
