A Warning and A Promise

Jesus gave a warning and a promise,
One day as, crowds, He taught.
When fear of men should come upon us,
His lesson must not be forgot.

Do not quake in fear of those,
Who can kill the body but not the soul.
But fear Him Who if you oppose,
Can cast you forever into a hellacious hole.

It is not I who say this;
I’m but a servant parroting his Master’s word.
Do not this warning dismiss;
Grow in wisdom because of what you’ve heard.

Almighty God is sovereign and just;
And He will bring judgment for sin.
But know He does not view us with disgust;
For us His beard was ripped from His chin.

The punishment He warns of,
He underwent Himself.
Jesus came down from above,
Setting aside Heaven’s splendor and wealth.

He went through Hell in our place,
As for our sin He was crucified.
His heart overflows with love and grace,
But His offer of salvation must not be denied.

He presents to us a choice:
Fear and love Him or fallen man.
Trust Him Whose brow with blood was moist,
As to our rescue He ran.

To fear Christ means to believe,
And submit to Him as Lord.
It is to repent of sin and receive,
A relationship with Him by Whom we’re adored.

If you fear the God of all creation,
There is no one else to fear.
No matter how bleak your situation,
The Almighty to you has drawn near.

So take heed of this warning,
But in the promise also revel.
Do not fear mankind’s scorning,
Nor cower before the devil.

If you fear God by faith in Christ,
No true harm can come to you.
Jesus’ Divine blood has sufficed,
To, death’s valley, carry us through.

The God we serve is unmatched;
He is awesome in power and glory.
He loves us and we’ll never be detached;
His is the final word in our story.
