The disobedient and unbelieving,
Will not enter the Lord’s rest.
But those who, God’s grace, are receiving,
Will be eternally blessed.
For we’re all in desperate need of grace,
Because we have all disobeyed.
We’ve bit the hand that feeds and spit in His face;
Our God and Maker we have betrayed.
Though we’ve spurned His love and bucked His will,
Our God extends this offer to us:
“While the soul that sins I must kill,
All will be saved who trust in Jesus.”
For Jesus Christ our Lord and God,
Satisfied His own good and just wrath.
On the cross, with our sin, He was shod,
To redeem those who, in His blood, take a bath.
For us His blood poured on Calvary;
Nails were thrust through His hands and feet.
Now from slavery to death we can be set free,
Because redemption’s work is complete.
All we need do is in Christ believe;
This command of God we must obey.
We cannot save ourselves but can receive,
Salvation in Christ Who alone is the Way.
Salvation comes not through good deeds;
By useless striving we are not justified.
The justified are they who Christ’s word heeds,
And drink the blood that flowed from His side.
To drink His blood and eat His flesh,
Simply means to, in Him, trust.
All who trust Christ, their souls He’ll refresh,
And raise to life in a land without rot or rust.
He’s prepared a place for the redeemed;
An eternal home of perfect peace, rest and joy.
A paradise of pleasure heretofore undreamed,
So come to Him and forsake death’s employ.
Embrace His commands and walk in His ways,
Not to be saved, but because you have been.
Come to Life’s Fountain, Jesus, the Ancient of Days;
Gladly to His kingdom He’ll welcome you in.
We’ve all disobeyed and disbelieved,
But God offers us grace; undeserved favor.
Come to Him and of your burden be relieved;
Know His love and find rest in the Savior.
