My Heart’s Delight

You alone are my heart’s delight;
My strong shelter in the night.
I rejoice not in wealth or fame,
But in Him Who died for my sin and shame.

Should I revel in created things?
No, but in Christ from Whom all life springs.
Oh Lord where else can we go,
To find new life free of sorrow?

Once I wandered and I strayed;
My Lord and God, You, I betrayed.
I broke Your law and chose to sin,
So, death’s prison I was in.

Chained and shackled, made a slave.
I was held fast in the grave.
Then Your light burst through the gloom,
As You broke into the tomb.

You took my place on the cross,
Bore God’s wrath for my sin’s dross.
Jesus Christ my God and King,
You ransomed me through Your suffering.

Death You fully did defeat;
Trampled Satan ‘neath Your feet.
By Your power I beheld,
The curse of sin from me repelled.

You entered the tomb to set free,
Slaves of sin and death like me.
You rose back to life in three days,
And ransacked Hell to Heaven’s praise.

It’s my joy to be Your plunder,
And know nothing will ever sunder,
Me from Your arm’s strong embrace,
For nothing’s stronger than Your grace.

Christ my Lord, I rejoice in You.
Your love is selfless and true.
Also I know You delight,
To give to us future’s bright.

The best, it is yet to come.
All who trust Christ won’t succumb,
Neither unto death nor grave,
For in Him we are forgave.

Hallelujah to the Lamb;
Jesus Christ the great I Am.
Lord, You are my heart’s delight.
Haste the day when faith’s made sight.
