God will give us the grace,
For what He calls us to face.
He is Master and Lord of all time and space.
Jesus came to this world that’s broken,
To die nailed to a cross oaken,
That to life we might be awoken.
Our Good Shepherd won’t abandon us now,
In the trials and travails He does allow;
With strength to endure, us, He will endow.
On our own, to persevere, we cannot,
But lest in difficulties we lose the plot,
Remember that by God we’re not forgot.
Trouble is not a sign of God’s displeasure,
Nor is His favor seen in earthly leisure.
We must disabuse ourselves of such a measure.
The kingdom of Jesus is not of this world,
And though His banner of victory’s unfurled,
Sin and death into the pit’s not yet hurled.
Forces of darkness still froth and rage,
And in conflict against our Lord engage,
But one day Jesus will clear the stage.
Before the curtain on suffering is drawn,
And the age of the new heavens and earth does dawn,
Many more will come to, Jesus, trust upon.
He is graciously delaying the day of His return,
When He will forever banish evil to burn,
So that many more in faith to Him will turn.
And He has given us the joy and privilege,
To dwell down here and reflect His image,
That others might come to behold His visage.
The day will soon come when we go home,
See our Lord’s face, know perfect shalom,
And never again in this fallen world roam.
But, relative to eternity, for a short time,
We’ll glorify Him in this place and clime,
And experience circumstances less than sublime.
In the pattern of Christ Who set aside the splendor,
Of Heaven so that life to us He might render,
We serve Him below and show His love tender.
As we traverse this rocky road,
His grace, strength and comfort to us is bestowed,
As His love to others, through us, is flowed.
Though we have trouble, be of good cheer;
We’re not alone for our Savior is near,
To give us much grace and silence our fear.
