I Will Pay The Cost

With a single word I could get off this cross and let this world burn to the ground;
But I refuse; I will pay the cost so that My lost sheep can be found.

Quickly now, do what you will, for from the tomb I shall rise.
I will bear the burden of all the world’s sin and by My death, death shall meet its demise.

Myriad angel legions stand by, chomping at the bit to answer My call.
But I will not bid them; and why? Because I love you and have chosen to fall.

As you put the crown of thorns on My head, and strike your Maker in the face,
Know I’ll mean it when I’ve said, “Father forgive them; please show much grace.”

I Am the resurrection and the life; the ransom for the all world’s sin.
For your transgression I will pay the price, so that, to my family, you may be brought in.

Though you have beaten and bound Me, and will murder Me on this cross,
I will endure the agony so you might be cleansed of sin’s dross.

When you’ve finished this unjust killing, repent and believe in Me.
I, Jesus the Christ, am fulfilling My redemptive plan to set you free.

Witness My rise from the grave; death cannot hold Me down.
I’ll rise up in glory and once again reclaim My holy and resplendent crown.

I will not come down off this cross, because I have purposed to save you.
What I suffer now is not loss, for by it I’ll give you life anew.

Repent of your sin and believe I died for you and rose from the dead.
By grace, through faith, forgiveness, receive; come eat the Heavenly Bread.

I, the Lord Jesus, am the Good shepherd, Who lays His life down for His sheep.
All who come to Me shall find rest, be rescued from death and no longer weep.
