Day and Night, Night and Day

Day and night, night and day,
The pain is ever present.
But Heaven forbid this be all I say,
For God’s Word provides hope that is pleasant.

Though right now all day and night,
The pounding in my head does not cease,
With bold confidence I can write,
One day God will give me release.

The evil one would have me believe,
Suffering is pointless and will not end.
But by God’s grace I’ve come to perceive,
On the throne of Heaven sits my greatest Friend.

You see, I have an Advocate,
The risen Lord Jesus Christ.
He will not abandon me to the pit;
Forever to Him I’ve been spliced.

The enemies that have risen against me,
Are here today but will be gone tomorrow,
Because Jesus paid my ransom on the tree,
When He bore all my sin and sorrow.

Though in this world we have trouble,
It is not the trouble of defeat.
It is merely the prickle of the stubble,
Jesus has trampled under His feet.

The time left for this fallen world is short;
Each day Jesus’ kingdom does advance.
Our pains aren’t meaningless but of great import,
And God uses them in His kingdom’s expanse.

It is Christ’s enemy that is in full retreat,
And it spitefully throws darts as it flees.
But soon Heaven and Earth shall meet,
And God will rid creation of sin’s disease.

Our Lord uses hardship to refine us,
And as we endure by His grace He’s glorified.
At no point will the Lord Jesus,
Forsake us for whom He died.

Press on and know for certain,
It’s not we, but suffering that will expire.
When we at last pass through death’s curtain,
We will never again weep or perspire.

Jesus gives eternal life to all,
Who repent of sin and trust in Him.
Through faith in Him we will rise, not fall,
And be filled with joy and peace to the brim.
