With few exceptions all on the Earth will taste death, but death is merely a doorway.
The end of life is not the end, it’s a threshold we’ll cross over someday.
We will stand before our Creator Who raised us up from the dust.
What happens next does depend on where we’ve placed our trust.
To the One Who made us we’re beholden; we’ll be made to give an account.
Will we be allowed to walk His streets golden, or be separated from Him, life’s Fount?
The problem is we’ve all sinned, and for this deserve death and Hell.
God is just so our debt must be paid. How then can we in splendor dwell?
To this question our Judge gives the answer, for He’s also rich in mercy and love.
In our place He satisfied His good justice, when He descended from Heaven above.
To ignore sin would make God corrupt, but thankfully He is not so.
Therefore Jesus, the Shepherd, was struck, and took on our sin and sorrow.
He was beaten and nailed to a cross, bearing all God’s righteous wrath for sin.
He was engulfed in molten heat to remove men’s dross, killed and a tomb buried in.
But praise God, by death, death He defeated; indeed, from the dead, Christ is risen.
Resurrected, He walked out of the tomb; death had no right to keep Him in its prison.
All who repent of sin and trust Jesus can know where they will go after death.
We will never again know pain or sorrow, but dwell in glory, given eternal breath.
Glory to God in the highest, for He has done the impossible.
Through the sacrifice of His Son, He made the gulf of our sin crossable.
We no longer need fear death’s doorway, for Jesus has gone on ahead.
It’s His good pleasure to give us life; come feast on Him, the Heavenly Bread.
Trust Jesus and know the joy of His love; be comforted by our Savior and Friend.
He died so we might live above; an offer of salvation to all He does extend.
