Six people of diverse backgrounds kneeling and praying together by a river at sunset

Head On Down

Head on down to the water with me,
Let’s go down and pray.
Jesus was crucified on a tree,
But rose on the third day.

Fellow sainted sinners let’s go down,
And bathe in the Water of life.
All who trust in Jesus will receive a crown,
And be cleansed of sin and strife.

Both God and Man, He bore our sorrow,
And drained the cup of wrath for sin.
The tomb He was put in, He only did borrow.
For death could not keep Him in.

Jesus Christ is the Lord Almighty,
Who is also gentle and meek.
Though He knew no sin, on that night He,
Like a lamb to the slaughter, didn’t speak.

With a single word He could’ve called angel,
Legions down to come to His aid.
But He was determined that our sinful,
Debt, by Him, would be paid.

In love and mercy, none is greater,
Christ’s majesty is unsurpassed.
As creation killed its Creator,
Heaven looked on aghast.

But at the moment all seemed over,
Jesus shouted in victory,
“It is finished! And moreover,
All who trust in Me are now free.”

The curtain tore and the path is open;
Man can be restored to God.
The chains of sin and death have been broken,
‘Cause Jesus faced the rod.

So come on down to the water with me,
Let’s go down and pray.
The dead are raised and the blind now see;
Jesus is the Way.

Fellow thirsting souls, come be sated;
Drink deep from life’s Fountain.
Know the love of Him by Whom we’re created,
And dwell upon His mountain.

Everyone’s invited, come to the River;
Jesus the Lord of all.
He’s loving, gracious and an eager Forgiver;
In love at His feet we fall.
