My mouth is parched, my throat is dry, oh Lord I thirst for You.
As the deer comes panting to the river side, I draw near Thee too.
Let Your living water flow into and through my heart.
Jesus make Your home with me, and please never depart.
Foolishly I drank of sin seeking to slake my thirst.
But in compassion You came to me and sin’s curse reversed.
You lovingly led me to a desert place to teach me what to thirst for.
You deprived me of this world’s delights and opened wide Heaven’s store.
Let Your love and grace rain down;
In a torrent sweep me away.
I desire Your renown;
It’s Your glory I long to display.
Nothing on this Earth compares with You oh Christ my Lord.
Willingly for us You died as Your Divine blood poured.
Although You were laid to rest, dead, inside a tomb.
Three days later You walked out in victory over the gloom.
Lord Your sacrifice alone has paid for the world’s sin.
And by trusting in Your Name to Heaven we’re brought in.
Your heart overflows with love and Your arms are open wide.
You eagerly bid for all to come and in Your house reside.
Jesus You made us for You;
Only in You we find rest.
Your love for us is pure and true;
Please hear my next request:
Quench my thirst, lead me to streams, flowing still and smooth.
As down here I face suffering, hold me close and my heart soothe.
It is not in earthly comfort that my heart delights.
All that glitters in this fallen world has faded in Your light.
Make me to a fountain be that Your living water flows from.
So that others may know this joy and in faith to You come.
Bind me to Your side and lead; In You, my Shepherd, I trust.
You are holy, good and true, and Your love is robust.
