Oh anxious heart of mine be still;
Cease your ceaseless groaning.
Pour out your complaint to Christ until,
He soothes all your bemoaning.
Do not hold back, but vent your cares,
To God Who cares for you.
He’s deeply concerned with your affairs,
And understands what you go through.
For our God is a Man of sorrows,
Well acquainted with grief.
He bore our sin and resultant embargoes,
To save us and give relief.
He is not indifferent to our tears,
But sees and counts each one.
When we cry out He always hears,
And, to give us comfort, does run.
From His throne in Heaven above,
He saw us drowning in sin.
And because His heart overflows with love,
To our rescue he dove in.
Jesus Christ, our Lord and God,
Descended to the depths of the grave.
For our sin He went under the rod,
To, our lost souls, redeem and save.
In our place He suffered and died;
Willingly He was nailed to a cross.
The God of creation, in agony, cried,
To cleanse us of sin’s dross.
In His power and awesome might,
Death and Hell, from Him, retreated.
He rose from the tomb; conquering the night.
Redemption’s work is completed.
Still though, dear heart, I know you beat,
And long for Heaven’s rest.
Know the Lamb’s blood covered the mercy seat,
And in Him you are blessed.
The day will soon come when suffering ends;
Christ will wipe your last tear away.
And for this journey, grace He sends,
To sustain us day by day.
Those who sow in sorrow will soon,
Reap a harvest of delight.
As we share in His suffering we commune,
With Jesus the Lord of Light.
Be still my beating heart; hush now.
Lay your burden at Jesus’ feet.
To His good and perfect will, down, bow;
Soon face to face with Him we’ll meet.
Jesus Christ, my Lord and God,
In You alone I trust.
Your will be done; with You I trod.
I know You are good, loving and just.
Silence my fears and hold me fast;
Lead me through this world’s dark valley.
What I suffer now will soon be past,
And endless joy awaits at this journey’s finale.
