Consider these words, hear them and be wise;
Throw off the yoke of Satan’s lies.
It is the soul that sins who dies,
But those who trust Christ gain a heavenly prize.
Oh beloved of God, why should you die,
When our debt has been paid by the Most High?
To rescue us drowning in sin He did fly,
To die in our place and our ransom supply.
Jesus Christ, the Word, became flesh,
To bring us living water and our parched souls refresh.
In the suffering of this world, Himself, He did enmesh,
To deliver us from death and give life afresh.
For our sin against God, we are without excuse,
And no works of ours can, our sentence, reduce.
Though Christ knew no sin, He put His neck in our noose;
For our iniquity He was beaten and endured much abuse.
All this God did because He loves us dearly.
He is Lord of creation and rules not severely.
Seeing Him on the cross, we behold His nature most clearly.
He is selfless, meek, and cares for us sincerely.
He is also holy, and awesome in power and might.
So, though He descended to the grave from Heaven’s height,
He rose from the dead and conquered the night.
All glory to Jesus, the King of life and light.
Now He bids us come, repent and in Him trust.
He delights to save and raise us from the dust.
In mercy He’s rich, and in love robust,
But to receive salvation, faith in Christ is a must.
We have all sinned and by the serpent been bit,
But our loving God has not abandoned us to the pit.
However, our rebellion against Him we must admit,
Turn from sin and Satan, and to God’s will submit.
In doing so we receive new life and joy.
God adopts us as His own, and all chains of sin does destroy.
We are freed unto righteousness and from death’s employ,
To dwell forever in God’s kingdom and His presence enjoy.
Come now to Jesus, the Lover of your soul.
Know the comfort and grace of Him Who died on a pole.
Add your name to the list read when Heaven calls roll;
Be cleansed of your sin, restored to God and made whole.
