This world we live in is full of strife;
With trouble and sorrow the Earth is rife.
There’s a sea of suffering outside my door;
The streets are full of the cries of the poor.
Bank accounts are empty, bread lines are full;
The noose is tightening, and the rope’s taut to pull.
There’s war and heartbreak the whole world round;
Is there safety or shelter anywhere to be found?
Jesus, I’m weary and feel empty inside.
Please come to me and, hope, provide.
Where else can we go, and what can we do?
The path to eternal life is only in You.
Now hear this you hopeless crushed by despair;
There is good news of which you must be aware.
Our God, Jesus, descended in glorious light.
He overcame the darkness and conquered the night.
The curse of sin that is over this world,
He devoured as God’s wrath on Him was hurled.
Now the kingdom of Satan has been brought down;
We can be set free and given a heavenly crown.
For God’s own Son, Jesus, died in our place,
Because of His love and boundless grace.
For three days only He lay dead in the tomb,
But then He rose up again, defeating the gloom.
Now He is working in the brokenness we see,
To save and redeem many; to, from death, set them free.
So, as we dwell for a short time below,
And face much trouble, we have hope in sorrow.
In the Lord Jesus, we have comfort and peace,
And no power of this world can cause this to decrease.
His kingdom is advancing, and will soon come in full.
As troubles bow us down, our eyes up He does pull.
We have joy in the sadness and know it will end.
Christ will dry our tears; He’s our greatest Friend.
Take heart and have courage; be of good cheer.
Soon the skies will open and the Lord will appear.
We know not the hour, nor the exact day,
But God will have the last word and bring an end to decay.
Be faithful where He’s placed you till we go home above;
Share the good news and show others His love.
