Jesus was brought in, and Pilate asked,
“So, you are a king?”; to judge Christ, he was tasked.
“You say that I am.” Jesus replied.
“But to witness to the truth is why, on Earth, I stride.”
To this Pilate said, “What is truth?”.
But this was said cynically, not with the sincerity of a sleuth.
What Pilate implied is that truth can’t be known;
This derisive statement came from a heart of stone.
What is truth? Oh Pilate, don’t you see?
The Truth is embodied, standing before thee.
It is Jesus, the One that the world does despise.
The Truth has come; blind man, open your eyes.
But alas, none can unless God gives them grace.
All are made deaf by the curse upon Adam’s race.
In our fallen flesh no one seeks after God,
But in love Truth descended and in this world trod.
Jesus, the Truth, gives sight to the blind.
He enlivens our souls to seek Him and find.
Those who abide in Him will know life without end;
Jesus Christ our Lord is mankind’s greatest Friend.
For though we have sinned and deserve to die,
To die in our place He came from on high.
He suffered the horror of death on a cross,
Forsaken by the Father, but thought it not loss.
As He trudged up Calvary bearing the beam,
With thoughts of joy set before Him, His mind did teem.
For He regards us as treasure; His beloved possession.
Selfless love drove Him to pay for our transgression.
This is the truth; Jesus suffered and died,
To raise us to life forever spent by His side.
He was buried in a tomb, but rose on the third day,
Having defeated death as for our sin He did pay.
Repeat not Pilate’s folly, but come to Christ the King.
Know the comfort and love of knowing life’s Wellspring.
Rejoice in the Truth, Christ Jesus the Lord.
All who trust in Him are raised to life and restored.
