The reason we all abhor death,
Is because we were made for life eternal.
We grieve each other’s final breath,
Because we’re creatures of light and not nocturnal.
We’re meant to live in illumined day;
To rejoice and revel in the light of God.
But we’ve sinned and pushed the radiant One away;
Now we’re doomed to paths of darkness trod.
We’ve traded joy and gladness,
For gnashing of teeth and sorrow.
But there is hope for us in our sadness;
We can obtain a brighter tomorrow.
The Son of God has shone on us,
To call us forth from the tombs.
Our iniquity has been paid for by Jesus,
And He, our sin and sorrow, consumes.
His blood that poured on Calvary,
Is mighty to wash us clean.
It has the power to set us free;
To make us righteous and pristine.
Because of His love Christ did this;
He is Lord and knows no equal.
He stooped to accept the traitor’s kiss,
To resurrect His people.
What’s more, He Who washed away our sin,
Will also wipe away our tears.
To His kingdom He has brought us in,
To know joy with Him for eternal years.
He saves us not only from Hell,
But also for life in Heaven.
He wants us to, with Him, as family dwell;
This is why He consumed our leaven.
Oh Lord Jesus, God Most High,
There is none like You.
You, Who are sinless, chose to die,
To raise us from death to life anew.
In Your mercy and Your grace,
You grant us salvation when we trust.
You descended and bore our disgrace,
To lift us to glory from the dust.
Awesome and holy is the Lamb,
Jesus Christ the Lord Almighty.
Rich in mercy and compassion is the Great I Am;
To worship and praise Him, we do rightly.
Repent of sin and trust in Christ;
Be set free from death and despair.
His blood to pay our ransom has sufficed;
Find rest in His tender love and care.
