There are seasons of suffering all must endure.
This is true for both the wealthy and poor.
These trials vary in length and severity,
But on Earth their existence, for sure, is no rarity.
“Abandon all hope ye who enter here.”,
Should perhaps, on the exit of all wombs, appear.
But then again, on second thought,
It is right and good that it does not.
For to this world in which we dwell,
That has under the curse of sin fell,
The Lord Almighty, full of truth and grace,
Descended to suffer and die in our place.
Jesus the Christ, our Creator and King,
For our sin, endured the greatest suffering.
He underwent the horror of the cross,
And separation from the Father, but thought it not loss.
As He did so He looked forward to the joy,
Of raising us to life, freed from death’s employ.
Now though we’ve sinned and are slaves of death,
By faith we’re set free and given eternal breath.
Although Jesus was killed and put in a grave,
He rose three days later; He’s mighty to save.
And to us He says, “Come unto Me.
Repent of your sin, trust and be set free.”
But another thing He wants us to know,
Is that while we dwell for a short time below,
We, His servants, aren’t greater than our Master.
Therefore, we too will face some disaster.
This world He conquered is still under a curse,
And the day’s not yet come when He’ll fully reverse,
The pain and sorrow that from sin has resulted.
So, like Him, we too will be insulted.
We must patiently bear with sorrow and pain,
But these things are passing and will not remain.
From these brief seasons of suffering,
Through our faithfulness, our Lord will bring,
Fruit that will multiply and abide.
By the gates of Hell our Lord won’t be denied.
His church He will continue to build,
And accomplish every good purpose He’s willed.
A harvest of joy will come from this season of tears;
Jesus will give us unending joy and years.
Hold fast to Him Who holds fast to you.
By His grace, He’s promised, this season you will come through.
