See the Man upon the tree?
He’s crucified to set us free.
Willingly, His blood was spilled,
So that we may, with life, be filled.
On the cross Christ gave His breath,
To rescue us from certain death.
Our debt for sin, we could not pay,
But Jesus washed it all away.
This tragic scene looked like defeat,
With nails piercing His hands and feet,
But it was in fact the moment of,
His conquering of death with love.
For Jesus is the Great I Am,
The Good Shepherd and spotless Lamb,
Who humbly came to us below,
To bear our shame, sin and sorrow.
And so it was that Jesus died;
By His own will, crucified.
Dead, He was put in a tomb,
As darkness thought it wrought His doom.
But then to prove His victory,
He rose from the grave on day three.
Sin and death are defeated,
The prince of this worlds’ unseated.
Hallelujah to the Christ,
Jesus, Whose death has sufficed,
To cleanse our sin and raise us up,
For He fully drained the cup.
See the Man upon the tree?
He’s lifted up in victory.
“It is finished!”, now He cries,
Defeating death and Satan’s lies.
Holy, holy is the Lamb,
Jesus Christ, the great I Am.
Be raised from death to life above;
Trust in Christ and know His love.
Blessed be Jesus the Christ,
Who, in our place, was sacrificed.
Trust Him as Savior, God and Friend,
And you will know life without end.
