Jesus’ sheep are all well watered,
Safely guarded and richly fed.
Having been gathered to His fold,
We’ve nothing more to fear or dread.
As His dulcet tones we hear,
To His instruction we give ear.
His Word is more precious than gold,
And each syllable we hold dear.
Our Shepherd is the spotless Lamb,
The all-creating great I Am,
Who, seeing us drowned in sin,
To our rescue swiftly swam.
Christ, the Almighty, took on flesh;
Himself, in this fallen world, He did enmesh;
Fully God and man, clothed in skin,
To raise us up to life afresh.
To do this He gave His life,
For His heart, with love, is rife.
In our place, on the cross, He died,
Bearing all our sin and strife.
As the Good Shepherd breathed His last,
All of Heaven looked on aghast,
At the Most High crucified,
With the world’s sin on Him amassed.
In doing this He fed His sheep,
As His head bowed down in sleep.
Giving us His flesh to eat,
He dove down to depths most deep.
He also watered us with His blood,
As the rod struck Him with a thud.
From His side flowed waters sweet;
His grace and mercy in a flood.
Then from the grave He rose again,
Ransoming, from death, all born of men.
In caverns deep, us, He pursued,
To deliver us from death’s den.
To all who trust, He gives life eternal,
And provides for them with care paternal.
He desires us to be renewed,
And saved for glory, from Hell infernal.
All His sheep He guards jealously;
Those He paid for on the tree.
He will not permit decay,
To ravage His flock He died to free.
He’s opened to us Heaven’s store,
And is leading us home to a verdant shore.
Trust in Jesus and receive today,
Abundant life and joy for evermore.
