Fire In My Bones

A fire in my bones drives me on,
To give vent to God’s praise.
I’m consumed with zeal to magnify the Son,
Jesus Christ the Ancient of Days.

Oh Lord unbind my tongue,
And remove the chains from my wrists.
From my lips let songs be sung,
With upraised hands while my life here persists.

Until the day You’ve decided,
To grant to me to come home,
By Your Spirit Who, in me, has resided,
Let me declare on Earth of Your shalom.

For in You, Jesus, we have peace,
Both from and with God.
With Your blood You’ve washed white our fleece,
Because, for our sin, You were struck by the rod.

Oh most merciful God in Heaven,
Blessed be Your glorious Name.
You Who created all in days seven,
Suffered and died for our sin and shame.

Author of Life, death, You defeated,
By Your own death on the cross.
Redemption’s work was fully completed,
When You selflessly consumed our dross.

You left Heaven’s throne for the grave;
Traded matchless splendor for dust and ashes.
But You rose again, mighty to save,
Powerfully shrugging off Satan’s slashes.

For You, Jesus, are God Most High,
Before Whom Heaven, Earth and Hell will bow.
Your authority, none can deny;
Once again, Heaven’s diadem adorns Your brow.

You are mighty and awesome in power,
Yet also gentle, loving and meek.
For those who trust, You are a strong Tower,
And You delight in finding those who seek.

For when we find You, we learn we’ve been found.
You’re the Good Shepherd Who pursues His sheep.
With compassionate love, Your heart, does abound;
The ocean of Your grace is infinitely deep.

I love You, and Lord, I desire,
To be used to make Your Name known.
Holy Spirit, pour fuel on the fire,
In my heart that Your light might be shown.

To glorify You I was created,
And in glorifying You Lord, I find joy.
In Christ alone is my soul’s thirst sated;
I rejoice to be a firebrand in His employ.
