Death is Dead

We’ve nothing more to fear or dread.
The grave is defeated and death is dead.

Death is our sin’s just penalty,
But God is rich in love and mercy.

Everyone can be justified,
Because Jesus was crucified.

He was lifted up on the cross,
And swallowed all God’s wrath for our dross.

Justice demands debts must be paid,
But selfless love required this selfless trade.

Willingly Christ died in our place,
To pay for all our sin and disgrace.

The just Judge of all creation,
Gave His life for our salvation.

Though we all to death were enslaved,
A bold assault King Jesus braved.

He ransacked Hell and broke our chains,
Ending our suffering through His own pains.

Into the tomb, us, He pursued;
“They shall not die!” He did conclude.

He trampled death in dying for us;
None can withstand the Lord Jesus.

Three days after He was buried,
With Him, us, out the grave He carried.

For He rose back up to life,
In proof He devoured our sin and strife.

Death is defeated, the victorys’ won;
Hallelujah to God’s Son.

What is there now for us to fear?
The Lord of life and light has drawn near.

All who repent and trust in Him,
He will gladly wrap round each limb,

Raise them to life, cleanse their sin,
And to His kingdom bring them in.

It is our God’s great delight,
To rescue us from sin’s dark night.

Hallelujah to Christ the Lamb;
Deaths’ been defeated by the great I Am.
