The Father:
Look My Son, see these poor souls,
Miserable and condemned in their sin?
They are trapped, held fast, in deep, dark holes,
Unable to, Our kingdom, come in.
What is to be done for these whom We love?
The just penalty for sin is death.
Love itself demands justice so, because of,
Their crimes they must give up their breath.
Their sin against Us in Our triune infinity,
Incurs a debt of infinite weight.
Only a sacrifice of perfect divinity,
Can ransom them from their bleak fate.
The Son:
Oh God My Father, righteous and true,
In this, as in all, You speak rightly.
As We are One, I know what You’ve in view;
And I submit to Your will not lightly.
I, Jesus, God the Son,
Shall condescend to be born as a man.
In this, as in all, Our will is one,
And We shall enact Our redemptive plan.
It is I, the Christ, Who shall drain the cup,
Of righteous wrath for sin to the dregs.
In laying My life down, We shall raise them up,
As My blood flows like wine from burst kegs.
The Father:
My Son, My Son, My only Son,
Because of Our love for the world,
Through Our sacrifice the victory will be won,
And Our love on all creation hurled.
They will mock, spit and flay Your flesh;
By Your own You will be rejected.
But though You die, You will rise afresh,
And many of them will too be so erected.
All who look to You and believe,
We will raise up from death to life.
We’ll delight and rejoice over all who receive,
Our gift to be saved from sin and strife.
The Son:
Amen and so be it, for it shall be,
That Our glory and love are revealed.
When I, though sinless, am lifted up on the tree,
Their condemnation shall be repealed.
We, the Lord Yahweh, Three in One,
Are the one true God of creation.
Through Our selfless sacrifice in Me, the Son,
We will save Our beloved from condemnation.
Let it be declared in Heaven and on Earth,
I, the Light, into darkness shall come.
I come bearing a gift of priceless worth;
To be, for mankind, the Ransom.
